World Famous Chicken Dinner

My mouth was watering all the way down the freeway. It had been a long time since I had that famous home style chicken dinner with all the fixings. And I mean, all of the fixings, from stuffing to cranberry relish, mashed potatoes and gravy, buttered noodles and more.

Those of you who have eaten here already know that I am talking about the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth MI. It is a fantastic meal of all you can eat served right at your table. They are famous for their chicken dinner, but, there is so much more. My traveling buddies, Darlene and Terri, were looking forward to the meal as well. Darlene always get the sampler plate, but, Terri had never eaten there before. Of course, my appetite was set on the chicken dinner.

As always, the service was superb. Our waiter, Kelsey, was more than pleasant. He was friendly and informative. I was surprised when he said he was  new. I put a picture of him on the blog. Doesn’t he have a wining smile?
Well, with full stomachs, it was now time to walk off some of those rich calories.

We headed down to the Front Porch Quilt Shop just off the main street in downtown Frankenmuth. They had some beautiful ombre fabrics worked into a quilt with a bargello pattern crossing it in an artistic sway across the middle. All three of us signed up for the class for that one!

It was a beautiful summer day, one that makes you want to stay outside as much as you can. So, we opted for a carriage ride through the town. What a pleasant experience. The name of our horse was Mason. He was an old pro at this and leisurely stepped through the main part of town and then just behind the little shops to a beautiful residential area. The landscaping was as beautiful as in town, a real treat for the eye and inspirational.

And now for the hard part, deciding on the quilt block. There are just so many beautiful sights to  choose from.

Well, I decided to go with covered bridge for my quilt block. I have always loved bridges, and this is one of my favorites.
